Dear Stein-Gymnasium community,
It has been such a joy to work with the students, faculty, and staff of Stein-Gymnasium. I’ve felt such a part of the community, and so at home – I’m sad that my time here has come to an end! I’ve appreciated having the chance to experience another country’s educational system. It’s been fascinating to compare life at a gymnasium in Berlin with life at my former high school in Seattle – you’re all so engaged, and it’s been so fun to sit in on your discussions, teach lessons, and meet with my awesome AG every week. I’m going to miss working with so many curious, bright, and funny students. Seeing how you approach the world has been a delight, and I’ve learned so much – about life as both a student and as a teacher in Berlin.
To my wonderful colleagues, thank you. Thank you for putting up with my endless questions, and for explaining all the nuances of the German educational system to me – I think I’ve finally memorized the bell schedule! It’s been delightful to talk politics, lesson plans, and daily life in the teachers’ lounge, and I’ve enjoyed helping in each of your classes. I’ve become a much better teacher, learner, and person after being around such a great group of colleagues and students.
Thank you for the wonderful year, everyone! Keep in touch!
